The Federation of Finnish Enterprises has selected Valamis as the winner of the National Entrepreneur Award. The criteria for selection included significant international partnerships and the growth rate that a company has exhibited.
Joensuu, 31 October 2017. On October 21st, the Federation of Finnish Enterprise hosted their annual award ceremony to honor exemplary entrepreneurship. The National Entrepreneur Award highlights the significance of Finnish entrepreneurs who show initiative, who have the courage to take economic risks, and who seek to improve their company’s growth. Since 1968, four Finnish companies are annually selected to receive this award, which is recognized as the most prestigious recognition for a company in Finland.
Presented in Joensuu this year, the award went to Valamis, an IT company specialized in the digitalization of learning. What makes Valamis receiving the award so special is the fact that it is the first company that has won both the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award (in 2012) and the National Entrepreneur Award.
While the criteria applied varies from year to year, common themes for assessment include a company’s productivity, product development and growth rate. Valamis’ success in winning the award was justified by the company’s international collaboration with major organizations such as NASA, rapid international growth and the application of open source to product development.
“Our new offices in Wiesbaden and London represent, for their part, courageous entrepreneurial spirit and a thirst for international growth. During this year alone, we have already recruited 40 new employees,” says Jussi Hurskainen, CEO of Valamis, commenting on the company’s success in 2017.
Valamis – Learning Experience Platform, a platform ideally suited for an organization’s orientation training, competence management, skills development and versatile analytics tools that help verify the efficiency of learning.
While Valamis is skilled in cutting-edge technologies and expertise both in building digital customer experience and design with impact, Valamis also offers training solutions for topical challenges (such as EU GDPR, or the General Data Protection Regulation).
Valamis has received several accolades, including the Brandon Hall Group Excellence Award in the technology series in 2016, recognition in Gartner’s 2016 Market Guide for Corporate Learning Suites, honored as the most successful company in Finnish North Karelia in 2015, and has accumulated several recognitions for its incredible workplace culture.
