We’ve just made one of the hardest parts of getting started with skills management a whole lot easier and faster!

Closing skills gaps faster with AI-powered skills management

Building a skills framework is often the first big barrier to closing skills gaps and launching an effective L&D strategy. It’s time-consuming, complex, and can slow down onboarding and impact.

To fix this, we’ve introduced AI-powered skills generation in Valamis, designed to help L&D teams create meaningful, role-relevant skills frameworks in minutes, not weeks.

Why we built AI for skills management

When new customers join us, we hear the same challenge again and again:

“We know skills are important, but we’re not sure where to start.”

Creating a skills framework from scratch takes time and resources, especially without an existing taxonomy. It delays onboarding, hinders employee training and development, and makes it harder to show measurable learning impact.

One of our customers asked if AI could help them build out their skills framework more quickly. That got us thinking: what if we combined their real-world needs with our vision for a simpler, smarter approach to skills?

Introducing AI-powered skills generation

With our new update, Valamis now does the heavy lifting for you:
✔️ Enter your industry, departments, or a few notes.
✔️ Auto-generate skill groups tailored to your context.
✔️ Review, tweak, and export your list as a CSV before adding it to the platform.

We’ve also added easier descriptions in Insights visualizations and new filters to User Activity reporting, giving admins faster access to relevant data for more effective decision-making.

Why it matters for L&D teams

This update solves one of the biggest barriers to success with skills: getting started quickly.

By simplifying setup, L&D teams can:

  • Show value faster: Often within the first 4 weeks.
  • Drive higher adoption: Because getting started is no longer overwhelming.
  • Build stronger engagement: With relevant, role-specific skills from day one.

For learners, this means:

  • Skills that matter: Personalized to their role and industry.
  • Purposeful growth: Learning journeys that are structured, focused, and aligned with career paths.

“Getting started with skills takes time, context, and care, but it doesn’t have to be slow.
We’ve built an assistant to handle the heavy lifting, so L&D teams can focus on what matters: understanding their people and shaping the future. In a world where skills evolve fast, we’re helping teams move faster.”

What’s next

We’re also rolling out a ready-to-go ESCO-based skills template (coming soon!), making it even easier to launch skills frameworks if you don’t already have a taxonomy in place.
